BB Lane - Interview with James Rhine

James Rhine
04/23/2007 - BB Lane's mumsie interviews "Sexiest Reality Star" James Rhine. Thanks so much James for taking time out of your busy schedule to talk with BB Lane!

Post a comment on this interview

mumsie: I understand that you are still planning on going back to law school. Are you laying the foundation to enter politics?
James: School is the number 1 priority for me right now. I feel that anyone that gets involved in politics at any level has already "entered" the political arena. Politics is a passion of mine. I do want to run for office, but I feel like grass root efforts are so much more meaningful right now. People don't understand the world out there and to often vote entirely on one issue as supposed to the entire platform of a candidate. To me, that's very scary.

mumsie: You are definitely what we can call a strategic player of BB. Did you plan out your strategy prior to BB6, or did it develop as you played the game?
James: You can't develop a strategy prior to entering the house. You don't know who you're up against. You can come up with an "outline" however. Prior to BB6 I knew I wanted to have fun and lie my ass off. So I did, such as lying about being a teacher and such. Viewers forget that we don't enter in that house with friends. Every other Houseguest wants to take $500,000 home and it should be a dogfight.

mumsie: Do you watch Reality TV? If so, who would you consider to be the most controversial reality stars of all time?
James: I do not watch reality TV, because it's not reality. Look at this tool in American Idol that can't sing, dance, or anything and he's still on the show creating "controversy... Sanjaya is the girl's name I think. I enjoy the lighter reality shows like the ones on VH1 and MTV. The Inferno is bad ass and I wish I had the chance to take on those guys. Wes, Derrick and I have become friends and I would love to compete against them and some of the other guys. I tried watching Am Race and was so bored I wanted to die.

mumsie: Here's one of those "what if" questions: In BB6 if "Cappy" would have stayed in the game, do you think you would have had the same influence over Ivette?
James: Yeah, she was pretty much under his spell from day 1. I love Ivette and still talk to her regularly. We partied our asses off in Miami with Beau and Ashlea in March and February. Fun times...

mumsie: We would love to see you and Sarah working together again, any chance of that happening?
James: haha... probably not.

mumsie: We all saw your crossed fingers signal to Sarah, did you have any signals (words or actions) set up ahead of time with any of the AS house guests?
James: No. Will and I talked about code words and such, but when he slipped about his other alliances I knew he was bullshitting me.

mumsie: Some house guests have said that BB is "fixed" to some degree, others swear it isn't. What's your take on that subject? What changes would you make to the game?
James: Obviously I would have more physical challenges; they're the most fun and entertaining. What viewer wants to see us lying in a graveyard or sleeping on a spider web? As to "fixed" think for yourself. The Veto comp my HOH week looked like it was put together that morning. The re-do of the HOH was bogus if you ask me, we had paddles to use in case of a "technical malfunction" but for some reason we didn't use them... hmmmm... What viewers don't realize is that during question and answer comps the questions are made up by the Producers, they can't be planned ahead of time since the questions refer back to happenings in the show, they are made up from what they hear us studying and how they want the show to go.

mumsie: I know something that is near and dear to your heart is Project Angel Food; would you like to tell us more about that? How much has your team raised so far?
James: I have a real soft spot for charity work and do as much as I can. I'm doing a date auction next month with some other reality TV peeps here in Chicago. Our Team, The Angel Mafia, is whooping everyone's ass right now, but I think some ABC team is hot on our tail. What Project Angel Food does is - they deliver food to terminally ill people that can't help themselves. It's something that could affect anyone and everyone at one point in their life.

mumsie: Modeling seems to come naturally for you, when or how did you become interested in it?
James: I was asked about it by my friend's agency, which became my first agency (Wilhelmina in Miami) and decided if they thought I could, then maybe I have a shot. I never had confidence in that area for most of my life so I was really shocked about it. I didn't even date in high school and girls were not interested in me, so I had never thought about modeling growing up, never.

mumsie: Do you have any interest in acting? How about poker? You would make an awesome opponent at the poker table.
James: No real interest in poker, acting maybe. I think I'm probably past that stage in my life however. I need to finish school and stop going on reality shows every summer.

mumsie: You are now and have always been very accessible to your fans which is appreciated, but how hard is that on you?
James: Not really. I don't see it as having fans. With the internet age it makes it easier to communicate with everyone. And of course everyone to communicate with me as well. Even the ones that still hate me...

mumsie: To get really personal for a minute, what's your favorite junk food?
James: Snickers w/ Almonds

mumsie: And finally, what's next for James Rhine?
James: Not even I know that... I will be in LA from the 21st through the 26th hanging with the reality friends... should be a good time.
