BB Lane - Interview with Amy Crews!

Amy Crews
01/22/2007 - BB Lane's AuntJulie talked with Amy Crews of Big Brother 3. Thanks so much Amy for interviewing with us!

Post a comment on this interview

AuntJulie: What have you been up to since Big Brother 3? Are you still working as a real estate appraiser?
Amy: SO much has happened since BB3! After the show, I was invited to be a special guest at the Florida Seafood Festival in Apalachicola. I was in Apalachicola about 4 hours when I decided that I was moving to Florida. It took a while to get everything in order, but I did move. A few months later, I met my real life Prince Charming. This past May we got married! I now live in Port Saint Joe, Florida with Buckie (my baby angel Silky Terrier), Jose (my baby angel Chihuahua), and my perfect Prince Charming Don.

AuntJulie: You were asked to be a contestant on Big Brother All-Stars; why did you decline and do you have any regrets?
Amy: I really thought about it, but ultimately I know that I made the right decision. There is no way that I could have spent that much time away from my SugarPlum. The money really wasn't an issue, and after getting married in May, I just could not have left so soon after my wedding to go be locked in a house all summer. I told Danielle just last week that there were times this summer when I was at the beach, or out on my boat fishing that I would think, "Wow! I'm SO happy that I am not in that house!" Also, because we had SO much fun in the BB3 house, I was afraid that the All-Star show would ruin the entire experience for me. We just had such a great time while we were in the house. We all bonded in a way that the other BB seasons have not. Now that all is said and done, Danielle and Marcellas both have confirmed what I suspected from the beginning: I would have hated it.

AuntJulie: If you had been a contestant on Big Brother All-Stars, aside from Danielle, whom else would you have aligned with? Also, whom would you have targeted for eviction?
Amy: I really can't say because my opinion of the All-Star HGs (other than Danielle) changed on a weekly basis. I really would have had to be there to answer that question honestly.

AuntJulie: You hold the record for the being the first person ever to be voted back into the Big Brother house. Were you shocked about this twist in the game and how did that change your strategy?
Amy: Oh I was completely shocked! I have to say though...it was great! I really loved (and still do) everyone in that house, so I was so happy to be back. It was not so much about getting back in the game as much as it was about getting back in the house to have fun with everyone.

AuntJulie: You were very close to Marcellas in the house during Big Brother 3; how was your relationship when the show ended and how has it evolved since then? Are you still friends?
Amy: Marcellas and I didn't talk for a while, and looking back on that, it was such a waste! Marcellas and I are friends, and I love him dearly! Danielle and I are trying to talk him into coming to Florida for my big 4th of July party this summer. It depends on his schedule, but I really hope he gets to come. I haven't seen him in a long time, and I miss My-cellas!

AuntJulie: You appeared on the August 3rd episode of Big Brother All-Stars and had some not so nice things to say about Janelle. It has been rumored that CBS edited your comments. Having the opportunity to set the record straight, how do you really feel about Janelle and her friendship with Marcellas?
Amy: Some things that I said were taken out of context, and I have explained it to Marcellas. The Janelle comment goes back to season 6. At the beginning of BB6, before the show started, CBS posted the pictures of the new HGs. A friend of mine called me and said, "I know what the twist is going to be! Janelle is a man!" That was all based on ONE picture. If you go back and look at that CBS BB6 photo, it is not hard to see why we said that. It was just a bad picture. I made that comment to the interviewer after explaining where the idea came from, and of course the only clip that was aired was the clip of me making the transvestite comment. I have never met Janelle, and really have nothing against her whatsoever. At the end of the day, it is a show. It is produced for entertainment purposes only, and personally, I think it was pretty damn entertaining. Although I love the BB fans, I do think that some people took things just a bit too far during the All-Star show. I'm sure that people at ABC didn't get death threats when Derrick dumped Meredith for his wife on Grey's Anatomy. Although Big Brother is a reality show, much of what people say and do is for entertainment. Again, it is a SHOW. As a fan, if you feel like you should make your case by emailing people from the show to threaten death and other unpleasantries, then you have a problem. That is simply not healthy behavior. And I do want to add that what I said was tame compared to what some of the HGs said to each other.

AuntJulie: The women of the Big Brother All-Star House appeared to be duped by Chill Town and Erika in particular received a cruel edit in the finale. What’s your opinion on how the women of the house were portrayed?
Amy: Well it just wasn't a woman's year. l really wanted Danielle to win, but I think it says a lot for Chill Town that both of the founding members have won a show. Obviously they know what they're doing!

AuntJulie: Congratulations on your wedding to Don! It looks like you're living the charmed life of a true Southern Belle. Any plans on starting a family soon?
Amy: Not soon. We want to wait a few years before we have a baby. We want one little girl, and she will be named Mimsie. Some people like to have children soon after getting married, but Don and I want to travel and enjoy our time together first. All of the bedrooms in our house are on the 2nd floor. We want to complete a master bedroom/bathroom suite downstairs before we have Mimsie, so that the nanny can have the upstairs master bedroom. Don insists on having a live-in, and although I think it is a little much, I'm not complaining.

AuntJulie: Lastly, all the Big Brother fans want to know what is your all-time favorite cheese?
Amy: Oh but I love them ALL! Actually, these days I'm loving any cheese made with 2% or skim milk. I'm trying to avoid a heart attack!
